The Cosynmolen masterplan generates qualitative open space in a fragmented urbanized landscape, and counters the further partitioning of its context with high density. The simple layout around a courtyard provides a strategy to reconcile the scale of the housing with the extensive neighbouring infrastructure. Adinkerke is no village anymore after all. The master plan consciously creates two distinctive worlds intra and extra muros. Along with the modularity of the proposal it provides a wide-ranging flexibility and diversity, leaving the outdated allotment strategy far behind.
