In Detail’s summer issue House SSK is featured as a sustainable small home aiming to offer a high standard of living. With careful planning, detailing and minimal foundations, the house fills an urban void, while offering a maximum of indoor living ­qualities on a reduced footprint.

Three narrow apartments got merged into a spacious home. Built within a post-war residence on Knokke’s coast at a time when function was prioritized over shape and design.

Basta is the second chapter of the redevelopment of an urban block in the center of Kortrijk, involving, a broad house built in the second quarter of the 19th century. A situation that poses some limitation but presents an opportunity for an experimental urban laboratory.

The project is located in Knokke, facing the beach side. The intertwining operation of the old with the new leads to the suggestion of a future space, still to be realised.

We are delighted to showcase the MVA Masterplan at the PHC Gallery of the Ryerson University in Toronto. The project, done in collaboration with frontofficetokyo, focuses on the theme of resilient architecture. The term for us does not refer to resistance to change, but on the contrary, to architecture that copes and adapts to transitions and disturbances.

La Cubanita turns an urban insula into a vibrant, other-worldly destination, fusing together the Eastern heritage of the owners and the Cuban theme of the bar. Asian neon lights, sleek bamboo floors and exotic Latin American colours create a juncture reflected in the multicultural atmosphere of the venue.

It’s hard not to appreciate the brutalist aspect of the process, the raw, unfinished and the sense of monumentality given by leaving the materials exposed.
